Learn Modern Jive in a day !

First Sunday of every month

Greyfriars Community Centre, Christchurch Rd, Ringwood

9am-4pm

What is a One-Day 'workshop'?

We've been developing our one-day workshop for more than a year and we're rather proud of it J. It's a fun and effective way to learn Modern Jive.

It's OK by us if you . . .

·        have never danced before,

·        have two (or more) left feet,

·        can't hear the beat of the music,

·        have been dragged along unwillingly and are determined to hate it.

We teach from the floor (not on stage) in a group limited to 24 people. That way everyone gets plenty of attention and by the end of the day everyone has learnt enough to go away and confidently dance Modern Jive at a party/wedding/in the Post Office queue/wherever.

Why is a workshop better than weekly lessons?

Good question! For some it won't be, but here are the advantages:

·        you don't forget what your learnt 'last week',

·        you don't have to commit to regular evenings,

·        it's quick if you're impatient

·        as you get 'the feel' of it that stays with you hour-by-hour and you build on it.

    How does the day run?

     8.45 registration

9.00 Session 1 - Introduction, a bit of essential theory, practice at leading/following and your first Modern Jive 'move'

10.00 Session 2 - Revision of that first move from Session 1, bit of technique, 3 more moves.

11.00 Session 3 - Revision of the 4 core moves, a bit more technique and 1 or more extra moves.

     LUNCH BREAK (phew!)

1.00 Session 4 - Revision of the 4 core moves, a bit more technique and 1 or more extra moves.

2.00 Session 5 - Revision of the 4 core moves, a bit more technique and 1 or more extra moves

3.00 Session 6 - Revision of the 4 core moves, a bit more technique and a dramatic 'lean'.

     4.00 Finish

There is a 10 minute break between each Session so although it's not an easy day it's not exhausting either. If you're keen we're available during the breaks for extra attention J

How much is it and what do you get for your money?

The day is £45 per person.

For that you get:

·        6 teaching Sessions

·        A bound book of notes with all the moves broken down step-by-step plus all the technique, exercises and tips from the day

·        A list of Modern Jive venues in the Bournemouth/Southampton/Fordingbridge area where you can learn more and dance most nights of the week

Housekeeping: we provide tea/coffee/squash. Wear whatever is comfortable but you will need shoes you can turn easily in (for ladies - flats or heels are fine, whichever you are comfortable with).
